Every month this year, not including December, Detroit saw above normal temperatures. Some of the months the temperatures were only slightly above normal for the month. Other instances saw temperatures 5 or more degrees above normal for the month. They had a slightly warmer than normal January and February with there being a record 17 inches of snow in February. March on the other hand was snowless and quite warm with the average temperature for the month being 5 degrees above normal. There was only one day in March where the maximum temperature was not above 40°. The rainfall for the year was overall only slightly above normal. There were a few months with below normal rainfall totals and a few months with above normal rainfall totals. April was the 2nd warmest April on record and June saw the 3rd most confirmed tornadoes (eight) for that area.
